UFC Fight Night 73 went down this past Saturday (August 8, 2015) from Nashville, Tennessee, and as always, the UFC rankings have been updated.

In the main event of UFC Fight Night 73, former title challenger Glover Teixeira returned to action to take on the previously surging Ovince Saint-Preux. Despite getting bloodied up early on, Teixeira controlled OSP on the mat before securing a fight ending rear-naked-choke.

Teixeira jumped up one spot in the light heavyweight rankings, now sitting at No. 3, while Saint-Preux saw no change, still ranked No. 6.

The co-main event was arguably the most anticipated fight of the night as top-five lightweight Michael Johnson took on the red hot Beniel Dariush, and although it was a solid fight, it ended with a whirl wind of controversy.

Johnson, although possibly losing round three, appeared to have dominated the majority of the bout which is why fans, fighters, and media members were shocked and disgusted when Dariush was handed a split-decision victory.

Dairush moved up two spots for his victory to No. 10, and although he technically lost, Johnson kept his place at No. 5.

Also on the main card was a pivotal women’s bantamweight matchup between former title challenger, and former Olympian Sara McMann, and Brazilian slugger Amanda Nunes. McMann was likely the favorite going on to the bout, but Nunes made a statement by scoring an impressive first round victory.

McMann dropped three spots down to No. 7, while Nunes rose three spots, and now sits at No. 3 in the division.
