It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Wednesday, July 15th, 2015) will come from Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California, in the form of UFC Fight Night 71. Headlining the card are Frank Mir and Todd Duffee, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the preliminary section of the card.

Sam Sicilia vs. Yaotzin Meza closed the preliminary card on Fox Sports 1. Not only did Sam Sicilia show that he was a better fighter in this fight, but he also showed off how much he loves guillotine chokes. Several attempts later, earned him a unanimous decision win.

Jessica Andrade vs. Sarah Moras was next in a Women’s bantamweight bout. Andrade was just on a different level in this fight. She took down Moras whenever she liked and looked great in his bout with not only her striking but takedown ability. Moras threw everything she had at Andrade including a late third-round rear-naked choke, but it wasn’t enough. Andrade got the decision win.

Masanori Kanehara vs. Rani Yahya was next in a bantamweight bout. Yahya dominated the majority of the fight with his takedowns in the first and second rounds but really gassed out at the end of the fight, which saw Kanehara make a comeback. Thus resulting in the judges giving Yahya a split decision victory.

Igor Araujo vs. Sean Strickland opened the Fox Sports 1 preliminary bouts. Early on in the round one Strickland stun and drop Araujo that could have ended the fight right then and there. However, Arranjo held on enough to last all three rounds, but in the end, lost to Strickland by unanimous decision.

Ildemar Alcantara vs. Kevin Casey in a middleweight bout finished off the UFC Fight Pass preliminary card. A decent fight that saw Casey dominate all three rounds with not only his striking but his strength and takedown abilities. He won the fight by unanimous decision.

Opening the UFC Fight Pass prelims was Andrew Craig vs. Lyman Good in a welterweight bout. It took Good one round to get comfortable in his UFC debut, but the former Bellator fighter did just that in the second round when he caught Craig with a counter right that put Craig on his back. Good finished with some strikes on the ground to finish the fight.
