UFC Fight Night 110 Preliminary Results: Vinc Pichel Finishes Damien Brown

It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Saturday, June 10th, 2017) will come from in the form of UFC Fight Night 110. Headlining the card are Mark Hunt and Derrick Lewis, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the preliminary section of the card.

Damien Brown vs. Vinc Pichel in a lightweight bout closes the preliminary card on FOX Sports 1. Brown pushes forward and tags Pichel a couple of times, doing a good job countering Pichel’s naked leg kick. Brown throwing multiple shots at a time to Pichel’s one and done. Pichel looking tentative but lands another huge uppercut. Pichel folds Brown! And finishes him off on the mat with follow-up blows.

Dominique Steele vs. Luke Jumeau is next in a welterweight bout. In round 1, leg kick for Steele, left hook for Jumeau., Right hand to the body for Steele, who ducks under the counter for a takedown. Jumeau reclaims guard but eats elbows and punches. Jumeau tries controlling the head and punching back. In round 2, Steele misses on a spinning backfist, lands a body kick. Jumeau is more accurate and tagging Steele in space but they tie up. Steele digging on yet another takedown but Jumeau stuffs it again. In round 3, Jumeau lands a great counter combo as Steele tries to rush in, then again. Steele ducks and throws back, landing himself. Steele follows a double jab into a shot, and they’re tied up on the fence again. Jumeau stuffs it, aided by the fence. Steele getting active with punches and elbows, Jumeau escapes. Hard 1-2 for the New Zealander stuffs another shot. Jumeau won the fight by decision.

John Moraga vs. Ashkan Mokhtarian is next in a flyweight bout. In round 1, Mokhtarian guts out the choke, perhaps aided by the fence. They’re clinched on the cage trading knees until Moraga pulls out. Step-in knee to the body then a left from Moraga. Mokhtarian shoots again but now Moraga stuffs, nearly sinks in, the rear-naked choke. Mokhtarian tries a leg lock as Moraga tries to stand, so Moraga gets on top and landing punches and elbows. He takes the back. Moraga transitions for an armbar right at the end but Mokhtarian sees the final bell. Straight right lands for Moraga. Mokhtarian is showing his toughness, but other than hard leg kicks, he’s not offering much. In round 2, Moraga catches a front kick and dumps Ashkan. In the guard, Moraga elbows a few times before Moraga advances to side. Moraga floating on top of Mokhtarian, going from one dominant position to another. He ends the round with another armbar attack from mount. In round 3, Moraga scores another takedown and feeds Mokhtarian some knuckle sandwiches before advancing again. Moraga putting on a grappling clinic, continually advancing and threatening with submissions. Credit to Mokhtarian for surviving In mount Moraga dropping bombs then takes the back yet again. Mokhtarian survives to the final bell. The judges gave the win to Moraga by decision.

Kiichi Kunimoto vs. Zak Ottow in a welterweight opens the FOX Sports 1 preliminary bouts. In round 1, they exchange snapping low kicks, more from Kunimoto. Big body kick and overhand from Ottow. Kunimoto looking to stay outside with kicks, Ottow stalking with punches. Ottow switching stances and keeping the volume up. Kunimoto shoots but has to settle for a temporary clinch. In round 2, a right sends Kunimoto staggering off-balance to start the round, but he’s alright. Ottow still largely beating him up on the feet. Another well-timed single results in a takedown this, time for Kunimoto. Ottow fending off the ground and pound before rolling back and up. Ottow immediately hits his own takedown and takes the back soon after. They roll but Ottow maintains the position. Kunimoto finally rolls over into Ottow’s guard with just under a minute left. He jumps on a guillotine but Ottow is out and on top.Ottow looking exhausted at the end of the round. In round 3, Kunimoto lands a hard 1-2 but eats a left hook. As Ottow tried to follow up, Kunimoto ducked under for perfect double leg. Kunimoto with moderate ground and pound while trying to advance. Ottow reclaims guard but is no closer to getting up. Ottow once started to get up and nearly got his back taken before getting ripped back down. Then Kunimoto does get the back. The judges gave the win to Ottow.

JJ Aldrich vs. Chan-Mi Jeon in a strawweight bout is the only the UFC Fight Pass preliminary card. In round 1, Jeon opens with kicks to the legs and body, answered by southpaw right hooks from Aldrich. Chan-Mi dumps Aldrich off a caught kick, but doesn’t follow up and lets her up. The Korean lands hard right, Aldrich left hook. They exchanged to end the round. Jeon is feinting a front kick to keep Aldrich at bay, but she gets tagged by a jab then a hard cross. In round 2, they trade leg kicks and right hooks, Aldrich continuing to move forward. Both women are landing but Aldrich a little more. Jeon lands a hard 1-2 and tries some standing elbows that miss right at the end of the round. In round 3, there was higher pace. Aldrich still getting the slight advantage in the exchanges. Jeon’s nose bloody. Jeon catches a stiff body kick but fails to take Aldrich down. Aldrich is very loose now, mixing in jumping attacks. They have a wild exchange to end the round. Aldrich picked up the decision win.
