“I Think It Was Trash’ – Ian Machado Garry’s Latest Win Ripped to Shreds by Fellow UFC Welterweight

Ian Machado Garry shuts down Carlos Prates in dominant decision victory - UFC Kansas City Highlights

UFC star Joaquin Buckley has criticized fellow welterweight Ian Machado Garry following Garry’s recent performance against Carlos Prates. Speaking after UFC 301, Buckley did not hold back in his assessment.

Joaquin Buckley Calls Ian Machado Garry’s Performance “Trash”

“I think it was trash,” Buckley said of Garry’s showing in an interview with Inside Fighting. “I really think Ian Garry had the potential to really kind of put it on Prates, but he tried to play it safe the whole time, you know, trying to keep from getting knocked out.”

Ian Machado Garry secured a decision win over Prates, but Buckley was unimpressed with the approach. He pointed to Garry’s defensive tactics in the later rounds, saying, “He turned Ian Garry to the booty warrior, you know what I mean? My man trying to wrestle, my man trying to hold on for dear life. But I feel like Ian Garry, he played himself. He really could have had a performance-of-the-night type ending, but, you know, too scared.”

Buckley Questions Prates’ Conditioning

Buckley also commented on Prates’ conditioning, suggesting it played a role in the fight’s outcome. “He’s smoking cigarettes though, right? I don’t think he’s very disciplined. But I think that’s going to change, especially with Prates realizing how close he was to finishing Ian Machado Garry, but he just didn’t have a gas tank, man, to just push that throttle.”

In response to Garry’s brief dismissal of Buckley’s previous comments, Buckley said, “When he seen me, he didn’t say nothing to me. So, at the end of the day, I feel like, you know, that fight will be made in the future.”

As for his own career, Buckley is focused on climbing the welterweight ranks and has set his sights on Kamaru Usman. “Get ready to go to sleep-sleep,” Buckley said, addressing the former champion.

With both fighters aiming for title contention, the tension between Buckley and Garry continues to build, setting the stage for a potential matchup down the line.
