MMA World Reacts as Khamzat Chimaev and Dillon Danis Spark Insane Mass Brawl at RAF 10: “Winner by SMESH”
Earlier tonight, former UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev wasted no time on his RAF debut.
In the main event of RAF 10, “Borz” locked horns with jiu-jitsu ace Dillon Danis and scored a pinfall victory in under a minute of the first frame. The Chechen-born Emirati scored a takedown and rolled Danis to his back and made the latter’s shoulders touch the mat.
After the referee called the pinfall, Danis still had Chimaev trapped in a guillotine. Once Chimaev had his head out, he and Danis exchanged words, and while getting back to his feet, “Borz” shoved Danis, prompting the latter to attempt a kick.
Khamzat Chimaev immediately fired back with a kick of his own while Danis was still lying on the RAF mat.
A huge brawl broke out following the incident, with the referee trying to hold Chimaev back as members of both camps stormed the stage.
Leading up to RAF 10, Dillon Danis repeatedly took shots at Khamzat Chimaev during the press conference and even challenged him to a street fight. “Borz” largely kept his cool throughout the buildup, but during their freestyle wrestling match, once “El Jefe” crossed the line, Chimaev was game to make him pay.
This is not the first time Danis has found himself involved in a post-fight brawl. A few months earlier, he was jumped by several Dagestani fighters at UFC 322. After this incident, Danis was banned from UFC events.
The 32-year-old was also a part of the infamous melee that erupted after Khabib Nurmagomedov submitted Conor McGregor at UFC 229.
