Invicta FC 21 Results: Megan Anderson Finishes Charmaine Tweet

It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Saturday, January 14th, 2017) will come in the form of Invicta FC 21. Headlining the card are Megan Anderson and Charmaine Tweet, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the rest of the main card.

Megan Anderson (7-3) and Charmaine Tweet (9-6) met in an interim featherweight title bout in the main event. In round 1, Anderson lands some nice jabs early and dictates the pace. Anderson clinched with her up against the fence. Anderson stunned her with a combo and Tweet clinches with her up against the fence. Tweet recovered and they separated late in the round. Tweet was pressing forward and busted open the nose of Anderson. Tweet went for a guillotine choke with seconds to go in the round but the bell sounded. In round 2, Anderson comes out aggressive. Anderson Lands a combo then a head kick that allowed her to clinch with her up against the fence. Anderson stunned her and Tweet started throwing a lot of spinning back fists. Anderson rushes, throws a series of lefts and right hands until Tweet gives up and this one is over. Anderson is the interim featherweight champion!

Pannie Kianzad (8-2) and Raquel Pa’aluhi (6-5) met in a bantamweight bout. Pa’aluhi takes her down and gets half guard about a minute into the round. Pa’aluhi transitioned to her back halfway through the round and worked her over with strikes while having her in bodyguard. Pa’aluhi locked in the rear-naked choke for the win.

Leah Letson (4-1) vs. Elizabeth Phillips (5-2) was next in a featherweight bout. After having a feeling out process, Letson dropped her with a high kick and then finishes her on the ground with strikes. 

Sijara Eubanks (2-2) vs. Aspen Ladd (5-0) was next in a bantamweight bout. In round 1, Ladd presses forward early and tags her with some jabs. Eubanks shots in for a takedown but it was stuff. Ladd scrambled and got her back up against the fence. Eubanks clinched with her and worked her over with knees. In round 2, Ladd continues to press forward and was throwing a mixture of strikes. Eubanks was using her kicks but didn’t have the range and ate some good shots while leading in. Eubanks landed a solid spinning back fist near the end of the round. In round 3, Ladd clinched with early in the round. Ladd scores a takedown and works her over with strikes from guard. Eubanks scrambles and gets on top to end the round. The judges gave the win to Ladd by unanimous decision.

Andrea Lee (5-2) vs. Jenny Liou (6-5) was next in a flyweight bout. Lee comes out quick and aggressive as she was throwing a lot of kicks. Lee stunned her a few times and backed her up. Lee dropped her with a left hook to the liver and this one is over.

Amy Montenegro (8-2) vs. Celine Haga (10-14) was next in a strawweight bout. In round 1, after exchanging early, Montenegro clinches and pins her up against the fence halfway through the round. Montenegro worked her over with knee strikes. Haga took her down and got her back. Montenegro was bleeding from her nose. Haga transitions and gets on top. Montenegro went for an armbar with seconds left in the round. In round 2, Haga scored an early round takedown but Montenegro got right back up. Montenegro then took her down. Haga gets to her feet and Montenegro clinches with her. Montenegro took her down halfway through the round and worked her over with strikes. They end the round on the ground. In round 3, Haga took her down right away and went for a toe hold but Montenegro got out of it. Montenegro worked her over with elbows from top position. Montenegro got her back and worked her over with strikes and went for a rear-naked choke. Haga scrambles, gets her back and locked in a rear-naked choke but the bell sounded. Once the bell sounded, Montenegro was out cold. Insane finish! The judges gave the win to Montenegro by unanimous decision.

Opening the card on UFC Fight Pass was Rachael Ostovich (3-3) vs. Christina Ferea (1-0) in a flyweight bout. In round 1, they both come out aggressive and Ostovich knocked her down with a side kick. Ferea was mixing up her kicks nicely and leading in with her left jab. Ostovich shot in for a takedown and then clinched halfway through the round. Ostovich went for a judo throw but Ferea blocked it and they go back to striking. Ostovich went for a late round takedown but was unsuccessful. In round 2, Ostovich took her down about a minute into the round and got her back. She worked her over with strikes from this position. Ferea dd a good job of fighting off the rear-naked choke and landed some back fists. Ostovich eventually got the rear-naked choke late in the round but never locked it in.  In round 3, Ferea caught her with a wild combo into a minute to the round and dropped her. Ferea swarms her with strikes and the referee stepped in to stop this one.
