Top G vs. The Gorilla: Darren Till Teases Fight with Andrew Tate

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show today. He recently made headlines with a devastating knockout victory over former UFC champion Luke Rockhold at the Misfits 22 – Ring of Thrones boxing event.
Renowned for his striking skills during his UFC career, Till parted ways with the promotion in 2022 following a submission loss to Dricus Du Plessis. In hindsight, that loss aged remarkably well for Till, as DDP would go on to become the division’s champion.
During the interview, Ariel and Till discussed a range of topics, including his feud with Carl Froch, his thoughts on Jake Paul, and his plans to return to the ring in December. When asked about the possibility of a matchup against former professional kickboxer and social media personality Andrew Tate also known as Cobra Tate or the Top G. Till had some intriguing comments to share.
Darren Till on Andrew Tate: “he’s probably one of the most famous people on the planet”

Originally a professional full-contact kickboxer, Andrew “Top G” Tate has built a large following on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. His content often focuses on topics such as wealth, masculinity, and gender roles.
Tate has faced widespread criticism from mainstream media, academics, human rights organizations, and the general public. His notoriety stems not only from his extreme views but also from his highly polarizing public persona.
Despite the controversy, he is often perceived as humorous, a trait that was on display during his appearance on the popular podcast Your Mom’s House several years ago.
Darren Till said, “If you’re going to go around referring to yourself as the Top G—the alpha of all alphas—then I don’t want to take that title off you, because I don’t think I’m the Top G. If Tom Aspinall (UFC Heavyweight Champion) were to walk into this room right now and tell me to sit down and shut up, I’m going to sit down and shut up.”
Till further elaborated, “I’m an alpha—I can fight most people out there.”
Ariel Helwani asked, “Is this an active thing Misfits is trying to get done?”
Till responded, “It’s looking like a fight that will be made before the end of the year in a great location. Obviously, in my eyes, he’s probably one of the most famous people on the planet—definitely a bigger name than Jake Paul. For me, it’s huge. It’s life-changing money, and the money is obviously tasty for him as well. I’d say it’s a 75% made fight.”
With high stakes, massive publicity, and two polarizing figures involved, the potential matchup between Darren Till and Andrew Tate could become one of the most talked-about crossover fights of the year.
