Former UFC Champion Predicts Ilia Topuria Finishes Justin Gaethje in Under a Minute: “He’s going to send him to the moon”
A former interim UFC welterweight champion has joined the growing list of people who believe Justin Gaethje is easy work for Ilia Topuria.
This past weekend, at UFC 324, Gaethje won the interim lightweight title for the second time in his career. This time, to grab the strap, ‘The Highlight’ outstruck his British foe, Paddy Pimblett, for five rounds and dropped him numerous times. He also dictated the pace by applying constant forward pressure, and after 25 minutes, cruised to a dominant, unanimous decision victory.
After handing a top prospect like Paddy Pimblett his first loss in the UFC, Justin Gaethje will now be facing undisputed champion Ilia Topuria later this year to unify the titles.
At 37, ‘The Highlight’ no longer boasts the same chin and endurance, and fans got a glimpse of that when he was knocked out by Max Holloway at UFC 300.
This past weekend against Pimblett, Gaethje got clipped a couple of times, but the accumulated damage was not enough to put him to sleep. However, against a sniper like ‘El Matador‘, he will likely get knocked out, unless he has a clear game plan on how to maintain distance and stop the Georgian-Spaniard from getting any kind of openings.
No matter what Gaethje does, Colby Covington believes Ilia Topuria will finish him in a minute. ‘Chaos’ told talkSPORT:
“I see Ilia knocking him out within a minute. I don’t think Justin will last longer than a minute. The way he ducks his head, Ilia’s going to land an uppercut on him, and he’s going to send him to the moon.”

Colby Covington also weighed in on Paddy Pimblett’s UFC 324 performance. The controversial MMA star feels the Liverpudlian froze under pressure and failed the test. During the same interview, Covington opined that Pimblett looked sluggish and fought like an amateur against Justin Gaethje.
“Paddy looked sluggish, didn’t look fast, hands down a lot – very amateur, rookie mistakes he made. Paddy’s never been in a main-event spotlight, so I think he realized that it’s a lot tougher up there, and he didn’t pass the test. He froze under the pressure.”
