Dakota Ditcheva Makes Successful Return From Year-Long Layoff Against Denise Kielholtz at PFL New York
Dakota Ditcheva’s unbeaten run is still intact, even if the finish had to wait another day.
Returning for the first time in more than a year, the PFL women’s flyweight star earned a unanimous decision victory over veteran Denise Kielholtz in the co-main event of PFL New York, successfully shaking off the ring rust after a lengthy injury layoff.
Dangerous” established control from the opening bell with sharp leg kicks and crisp southpaw combinations, forcing Kielholtz to fight on the back foot. The Dutch striker found occasional openings with counter punches, but Ditcheva’s size, speed, and variety consistently kept her one step ahead. A perfectly timed knee late in the first round appeared to hurt Kielholtz, giving the British standout her first real opportunity to chase a finish.
The pressure continued in the second as Dakota Ditcheva increased her output, mixing strikes with a brief grappling exchange before even showcasing her wrestling with a takedown. Kielholtz proved incredibly durable, surviving every surge and frustrating Ditcheva’s pursuit of another stoppage.
With the finish proving elusive, Ditcheva smartly controlled the final round, relying on her technical striking to comfortably secure all three rounds on the judges’ scorecards.
The victory improved the Manchester native to a perfect 16-0 as a professional and marked a successful return after her hand injury. Although her knockout streak came to an end for the second straight fight, Dakota Ditcheva once again demonstrated why she remains one of the brightest stars competing outside the UFC.
