Costello van Steenis’ Epic Elbow KO on Fabian Edwards Seals Title Defense - PFL Madrid Highlights

Costello van Steenis successfully defended his middleweight crown at PFL Madrid, defeating Fabian Edwards with an insane elbow KO.

While the opening round was fairly competitive, van Steenis found himself with the late advantage after stuffing a takedown attempt from Edwards and nearly cinching in a guillotine choke. Edwards quickly defended, but was forced to give up top control to the defending champ, likely putting van Steenis up 1-0 after the first five minutes.

Edwards went right back to his grappling in the second and managed to get van Steenis to the mat, though his success was short-lived. With just over two minutes to go in the stanza, van Steenis reversed position, taking Edwards’ back and fishing for a rear-naked choke.

Edwards survived the round, even making it back to his feet and delivering a late flurry, but much of the offense came from van Steenis, giving him a clear two-round lead over the challenger.

Despite having little to no success with the wrestling, Edwards went right back to the well in round three and nearly found himself in another tight guillotine. Edwards defended and attempted yet another takedown, leaving his head wide open for a series of short elbows. Taking advantage of the opportunity, van Steenis unleashed a flurry of elbows against the fence that put Edwards out cold.

Official Result: Costello van Steenis def. Fabian Edwards via KO (elbows) at 1:48 of Round 3.
