Shane Carwin vs Roy 'Big country' Nelson is officially set for UFC 125. Carwin will look to bounce back after his submission loss to HW champ Brock Lesnar and Nelson will be hoping for a win following a decision loss to Junior Dos Santos. Carwin spoke about this future match up recently on his online blog:

I will be fighting Roy Nelson on 1-1-11 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight will be the Co-Main Event of the Edgar Maynard rematch. I think Roy is a tough opponent for anyone. He has been in several main event situations and has fought a lot of veterans in the sport," Carwin wrote today. "I am honored to be fighting again and feel like Roy is a worth opponent. My goal for the fight is to be exciting and go home with the win. I have a lot to prove as does Roy so this should make for a great fight.

So the card is looking in good shape for UFC 125 with this heavyweight battle being added. Here is how it looks now;

That's one way of seeing it. Or you could say that Dana must really like Nelson, since he lets him fight the top names of the division. Although, for sure, a loss here would likely see him get cut.

Idk if he'll get cut, he KO'd his first two opponents and the Dos Santos fight showed how much heart he has, so i really doubt he'll get cut but ya giving him named opponents is good a win over Carwin automatically puts him in the contender spot

It's hard not to considering his frame, his unexplosiveness, and the fact that he'll never get Shane down

Carwin will most likely win via KO, this card is pretty good...most looking forward too seeing Nate Diaz and Gomi fight, as for the main event its ok don't really have high expectations for that one

This card looks killer. A great matchup between Carwin and Big Country, Guida vs Gomi will be stellar, finally get to see Thiago Silva back, and Leben and Diaz always make exciting fights! Hope the main event isn't lustered over by the other fights ala UFC 119.

lol, every Diaz fight people want to see them lose even though the Diaz bro's are probably one of the most entertaining fighters in MMA today, when's the last time you saw a boring Diaz fight? they put on the best performances and usually earn fight of the nights

This guy is insane to be accepting a fight like this. And i would shite bricks if he actually won. Dont get me wrong i like Nelson, but he got outstruck by Junior and couldn't even take hime down really.

Carwin sick or not he will knock the head off of Roy Nelson. Or take him down and beat on his belly.

Sorry, this is what i think will happen to him

To many people are discounting Nelson's abilities as usual... Its funny that people keep saying that Dana must not like this guy. No, its not that... Its because that is the level of fighter Big Country is!! There are way to many variables in this match-up for anyone to assume this will be a one-sided fight. Obviously, standing may not be the best strategy for Nelson, but if he does he could catch Carwin just the same as he could get caught. Now if the fight hits the ground, its all Big Country. I assume that most do not realize that Nelson is a world class jiu-jitsu practitioner... Probably because he is always knocking guys out rather than submitting them.

I believe he is better on the ground in skill terms but I don't think Mir can take down Carwin or Brock at will and Carwin did take brock down. I wouldn't count BC out but I still give the nod to carwin by 70-30. Carwin is a monster to take down and thats not his most serious game either. I feel it will be short.

As much as i love Carwin, i have to disagree that this fight will be one sided. I'd love to see Carwin win but Big Country is pretty fast and well rounded and has a great cardio. This will be a great great fight !

I really hope Edgar has the strength to deal with Maynard this time around. I personally think Edgar is way more skilled as an all round MMA fighter and don't wanna see Maynard as champ. He is superbly good at what he does, but I never have much anticipation for his fights, I'm only hyped for this one cos edgar is in it.

Listen Edgar is whole new level mma fighter not the same he fought Gray Maynard, now he is faster he fake more, he is boxing, he is kicking, and his takedowns are smart... he will outclasse Maynard, I just can't see Maynard wining it....

LOL at everyone thinking it's gonna be an easy KO for Carwin. JDS couldn't KO Nelson in 3rds of pretty much all standing.

I'm not a fan of Roy but you've got to admit he's a tough guy.

This card look pretty awesome. Silva vs Vera could be a striking war.

Heck all the matches could be with the exception of the main event.

Write fat Roy off at your peril! :)

Honestly, just looking at the guy you wouldn't place in the top 4 heavyweights but the guy is a rough tough bastard and just keeps on winning. This time I think he is outclassed but let us be honest, it isn't the first time any of us has said that and Roy has still managed to win.

As for the card, very nice flow all the way through to the main event. Really looking forward to seeing Clay Guida fight again, also Nate Diaz is a prick but he is a tough prick with great skills facing off Gomi who I have alot of respect for so that could be another highlight match.

Carwin too big and strong for poor Nelson. On the plus side though, Carwin has awful cardio and is terrible on his back, so if he can just get that takedown?

If Carwin can't take Roy Nelson's out in the first round, it will be a bad night for him. Roy Nelson's cardio rocks while Carwin's is questionable. I think Roy is going to surprise everyone.......again.
