Ultimate Fighter Finals Results: KJ Noons Scores Monstrous First Round Knockout
The Ultimate Fighter Nations Finals are underway, with the Fight Pass and Fox Sports 1 preliminaries in the books. Fans in Quebec City, Canada, have been treated to a decent show, and the best is yet to come with the main event of Michael Bisping vs. Tim Kennedy, and the fight between Patrick Coté and Kyle Noke as co-main.
Opening the evening’s festivities was a bantamweight battle between Mitch Gagnon and Tim Gorman, and the hometown favourite Gagnon impressed tonight. We knew that Gagnon had excellent submissions, and his striking looked very crisp against ‘The Psycho’. Gagnon took home the decision.
On to the welterweight division, and Richard Walsh squares off against Chris Indich in a battle of TUF Nations veterans. The former Team Australia members met in the cage right away and threw down for an entertaining three round affair. ‘Dirty’ Richard Walsh wins the decision using elbows in the clinch and wrestling.
The middleweights were up next as Vik Grujic and Nordine Taleb went at it for three rounds, and Taleb outmatched his man with relative ease. Taleb showed why he was picked for TUF Nations and the upcoming season of TUF 19, as he dominated his way to a decision win.
Mike de la Torre steps in as late replacement against home town favourite Mark Bocek, and this was a thrilling slug fest in the lightweight division. After three back and forth rounds, the veteran Mark Bocek took the split decision. Now on to the Fox Sports section, bantamweights George Roop and Dustin Kimura are up first.
Not the most exciting bout ever, Roop took home a decision after three mediocre rounds. Light-heavyweights Ryan Jimmo and Sean O’Connell are up next, and ‘Big Deal’ looked very sharp with his striking; a big right hand over the top put O’Connell’s lights out in the first round, and it was followed by Jimmo’s trademark robot dance.
Women’s bantamweights Sarah Kaufman and Leslie Smith went at it next, and the number five Kaufman put a pretty solid performance in. Kaufman takes home the decision. Lastly on the card was a huge knockout for KJ Noons; a big right over the top put Sam Stout’s lights out in the very first round
