Tyson Fury Plots Latest Heavyweight Boxing Comeback

Tyson Fury Names The Hardest Hitter of His Career and It's NOT Francis Ngannou

You can’t keep a good man down…

Tyson Fury has announced his intention to make a comeback in 2026 – U-turning on what we now know to be a ‘temporary’ retirement.

The Gypsy King will no doubt have heavyweight gold on his mind as he returns to the ring, with some eye-catching potential fights on the radar…

Back to It

In his ideal world, there’d be only two opponents in Fury’s crosshairs: Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua.

Of course, plans for a money-spinning bout with AJ will have to be put on hold after he was involved in a fatal road accident in Nigeria, which saw members of his entourage tragically lose their lives and Joshua himself injured.

So, any Anthony Joshua fight betting odds are on hold right now as the 36-year-old continues his recovery and rehabilitation.

However, those that bet on boxing online may be interested in the odds for a tear-up between the formerly undisputed heavyweight champion Usyk and Deontay Wilder, with the Ukrainian installed as a red-hot 1/14 favourite should the fight go ahead.

On paper, it makes little sense – Wilder is a 40-year-old who has suffered four defeats in his last six outings, but he does possess knockout power and would provide an intriguing clash of styles for the technically-superior Usyk.

The fight could even take place in July in front of a world record crowd of 136,000 in San Francisco, which would surely pique Usyk’s interest.

That could, in theory, set up another title defence at the end of the year… by which time, Fury may just have shaken off the ring-rust and be ready for a trilogy fight with his Ukrainian nemesis.

Comeback Trail

At the age of 37, Fury still has time on his side. And recent social media posts suggest that the Gypsy King has made good headway in getting back down to his fighting weight.

He’ll perhaps look for a tune-up bout in the spring, with names like Arslanbek Makhmudov linked. The Russian was last seen outpointing David Allen in October and while capable, would surely be outmatched if Fury does return in good shape.

That would potentially set the scene for a third collision with Usyk later this year. Although the champion won both of their original meetings, they were close on the cards and Fury provided the sternest tests of the Ukrainian’s career to date – there would also surely be an appetite for a trilogy bout amongst the fans.

As for Usyk… well, he might need more persuasion, although the 39-year-old has claimed that he would consider a fight with Fury if the undisputed gold was on the line.

He held all the heavyweight gold, of course, before being stripped of the WBO belt in November due to inactivity. That was handed to Fabio Wardley, who could represent an interesting opponent for Fury in an all-British clash this summer.

If the Gypsy King was successful in that endeavour, then an undisputed heavyweight clash with Usyk in December is not an impossibility – what a return that would be for a man who’s no stranger to getting up off the canvas, both literally and metaphorically.
