Randy Couture Details Heart Attack: Another 30 Or 40 Minutes, It Would’ve Been Different Outcome

Randy Couture

UFC Hall Of Famer Randy Couture gave the mixed martial arts (MMA) community a scare when he suffered a heart attack earlier this month.

Couture didn’t feel quite right after a recent workout, and actually walked himself to the hospital before he was diagnosed with, and treated for, a heart attack. Thankfully Couture is back home and says things are back to normal. He is taking all the necessary precautions to avoid another heart attack and will be getting checked up regularly moving forward.

Speaking to “The Ariel Helwani MMA Show” earlier this month, Couture said, had he arrived 30 or 40 minutes later, it would’ve been a very different outcome. (H/T MMA Junkie)

“I was lucky I came in when I came in,” Couture said. “If I had waited another 30 or 40 minutes, it would’ve been a different outcome … Any time something like that happens, it certainly gets your attention

“… To have a heart attack was strange. It just chips away at your identity a little bit. Who you are. Who you thought you were. I’m certainly happy to be back, up, and running. I’m feeling a lot more normal. A lot more like myself.”

Couture is one of the biggest legends in the history of the sport. He was the first-ever fighter to win a title in two different weight classes at light heavyweight and heavyweight. Couture is also one of the first of many legends from the UFC’s early rise to fame. Thankfully, “The Natural” is still alive and going strong.
