Max Holloway Wants Jose Aldo: He Makes My Blood Boil

No. 3-ranked UFC featherweight contender Max Holloway is looking to get back inside the Octagon soon, and he wants a big name fight to help propel him into the title picture.

With current 145-pound champ Conor McGregor booked to challenge for the lightweight title at UFC 205, Jose Aldo embroiled in a contact dispute with the UFC, and No. 2-ranked Frankie Edgar set to throw down with Jeremy Stephens, that leaves the Hawaii native waiting in the wings for his next scrap to get booked.

Holloway recently spoke to MMA Junkie about his frustrations over not yet having a fight booked, claiming the rest of the featherweight division is running away with a case of ‘pu**y-itis’:

“I’m a fighter, man; I just want to fight,” Holloway said. “I don’t care who it is or whatever. I can’t change what they personally feel, but like I said, I got that vaccine for that (expletive)-itis that’s been going around with all these people running away. They got to let me know when they’re ready to fight.”

While Holloway would love another crack at McGregor for the 145-pound title, that bout is not a possibility at the moment with ‘The Notorious One’ attempting to make history by becoming the first man in UFC history to hold two titles in different weight classes simultaneously with a potential win over Eddie Alvarez in November.

“In a perfect world, if I could fight Conor, that would be great,” Holloway said. “But the person that’s really got my blood boiling is Jose Aldo. He’s (expletive) talking bubbles. I don’t know what he’s talking. I think Conor hit him too hard in that fight, so he’s losing his mind. That guy’s got to get his (expletive) together, get his ass in the cage and do less talking and more fighting.”

“I respect him, I respect him a lot, but at the end of the day, people keep forgetting how much times he left the UFC high and dry in a main-event slot or a co-main event slot that he was supposed to be because of injuries,” Holloway said. “I know injuries sucks, but it happens more than (expletive) a couple of times, and he had to pull out due to injury or whatever or personal reasons. It is what it is. They remember that kind of stuff.”

Holloway is dead set on one day hoisting up UFC gold above his head for the first time in his career, as the 24-year-old knows without a shadow of a doubt he is the best fighter in the world at 145 pounds:

“My gold belt is going to come, and I know it is,” Holloway said. “My job is winning fights. I’m confident in myself. I know I’m the best guy in the world. … I just can’t wait to go in there and show the world what’s up.”

If Aldo is able to fix up his contract issues with the UFC soon, Holloway might just get his opportunity to step into the cage with the Brazilian champ.
