Justin Gaethje would like to share the Octagon with Conor McGregor.
“The Highlight” is on a roll. Back-to-back knockout wins over James Vick and Edson Barboza have the former World Series of Fighting (WSOF) champion aiming for the biggest fights in the game.
“That’s the one I want,” added Gaethje. “Tony [Ferguson] is there but he has to go back and get better. That leaves Conor and me.”
A fight between Gaethje and McGregor would be quite the sight to
“It’s the name of the game. I want to fight him,” reiterated Gaethje. “I want to fight him in Ireland. I know it’s not going to happen in Ireland but that’s my dream is to go over there and be in that sort of chaos. That’s what f—king wakes me up every day.”
“I’m going out there, I’m going to stand, and I’m going to knock him out. If he wants to retire I can help him on his way out.”
McGregor’s future inside the Octagon is still very much up in the air. He is currently serving the remainder of his UFC 229 post-fight suspension issued by the NSAC. And he has legal issues that are hanging over his head that will need to be cleared up, or at the very least mitigated. It also appears he’s on a collision course with Khabib Nurmagomedov following their highly-publicized Twitter war this week.
