Dana White and UFC officials have confirmed a blockbuster main event for UFC 327 on April 11 at the Kaseya Center: Jiri Prochazka versus Carlos Ulberg for the vacant light heavyweight championship. The announcement, dropped Friday afternoon via UFC’s social channels and the promotion’s website, marks a pivotal moment for the 205-pound division amid swirling rumors of champion Alex Pereira’s potential exit.
Prochazka, the former titleholder known for his pressure and samurai-like intensity, steps back into the Octagon. The Czech star, who previously held the belt before surrendering it due to injury in 2024. “This is my path back to glory,” Prochazka posted on Instagram shortly after the news broke, fueling fan anticipation for his signature chaos. He is most recently coming off of KO wins against Khalil Rountree Jr. and Jamahal Hill.

Facing him is Ulberg, the 34-year-old New Zealand powerhouse on a blistering nine-fight win streak inside the UFC. The streaking contender most recently demolished Vitor Petrino via third-round TKO at UFC 305 in Perth with later wins over Dominick Reyes and Jan Błachowicz, both former titleholders.
Ulberg, who trains out of City Kickboxing, called the shot his “dream realized” in a post-announcement interview with UFC Embedded. At 6’6″ with an 80-inch reach, he presents matchup nightmares for Prochazka’s forward-marching style.

The vacancy stems from Pereira’s apparent decision to relinquish the strap, though UFC president Dana White has yet to issue a formal statement. Sources close to the Brazilian knockout artist might be eyeing a full-time move to heavyweight, where whispers point to a superfight against Ciryl Gane for an interim title. Pereira has teased the announcement.

Pereira’s heavyweight pivot could reshape two divisions. Gane, the former interim champ is healthy after his no-contest against the reigning king Tom Aspinall. Aspinall was injured in his Gane match due to a severe eye-poke. The bout has been rumored for UFC 328.
