Valter Walker Catches and Crushes Thomas Petersen’s Calf in Round 1 at UFC Abu Dhabi
Earlier tonight at UFC Abu Dhabi, UFC heavyweight contender and one of the most entertaining submission artists on the roster, Valter Walker, returned to the octagon after nearly 11 months to lock horns with Thomas Petersen.
As the three-round 265-pound contest commenced, the leg lock specialist first looked for the outside heel hook right away and then rolled and controlled the American fighter’s leg and nearly crushed it.
Thomas Petersen briefly managed to slip the heel hook, but meanwhile the Brazilian sank in the calf slicer, forcing Petersen to tap after 92 seconds.

It’s now five fights and five consecutive Round 1 leg lock submission wins for Walker.
“The Clean Monster” is now riding a five-fight win streak and is now 5-1 in the UFC. Thomas Petersen, on the other hand, has lost 3 of his last 5 UFC bouts.
After getting his hand raised at UFC Abu Dhabi, Valter Walker has now put his crosshairs on current and two-time interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane, who is expected to meet undisputed titleholder Tom Aspinall in Paris in September to unify the titles.
