Bjorn Rebney says Cheick Kongo has not signed with Bellator MMA

It was recently reported across the board by MMA media that former UFC heavyweight gate keeper Cheick Kongo had inked a deal with Bellator MMA.

However according to Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney, the organization has not yet signed the fighter, regardless of the reports.

He does however admit that he is a fan of Kongo’s, has been watching him for years and may potentially have some interest in signing him to the promotion in the future:

“He has not signed. Great fighter, fun personality, very good fighter to watch, I’ve been watching him fight for years, but he has not signed with Bellator.””

According to Rebney, who was speaking at Wednesday’s press conference, after recently signing Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, the CEO of Bellato has had the opportunity to spend sometime at the Wolfslair and get to know many of the fighters training in the camp, including Kongo himself.

Rebney shared some information regarding the experience, displaying some interest in potentially signing some fighters from the well known british camp:

“Part of the magic of this relationship is I got to spend literally months working with the team at Wolfslair. They’ve got a terrific stable of talent. You’re going to see some announcements coming out literally in the next couple weeks about more Wolfslair talent that’s going to be coming in with Bellator.”
