Dominick Cruz Thinks Fighters Should Remember They Are In The “Entertainment Business”

Conor McGregor is kind of like Marmite in the UFC at this moment in time; you either love him or you hate him.

Since his arrival at the promotion, back in April last year, “Notorious” has certainly lived up to name; becoming one of the main focal points of the featherweight division. With just two fights inside the Octagon McGregor has gained more popularity than many other UFC veterans.

According to the UFC’s former bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz that’s no surprise, as the 25-year old is now one of the most entertaining fighters in the featherweight division. Something which he thinks other fighters need to realise:

“Everybody likes hearing what Conor McGregor has to say. It’s funny, he’s clever, he’s got a nice accent and he comes in and he always dresses sharp. All that together creates something that people want to watch on TV. It’s entertainment. Fighters need to remember that we’re in the entertainment business.

The more entertaining you are through and through, from beginning to end, however you choose to do it, the more people are going to want to tune in, and the more butts you’re going to put in the seats. That’s something that all of us can take from a guy like Conor McGregor.”  – Cruz told MMAFighting.com

The Irish star has certainly become a hot commodity in the promotion and that’s one of the reasons why he will headline UFC Fight Night 46 in his homeland of Ireland opposite Cole Miller in July. Add to that the fact he has already got top stars like Chad Mendes and Cub Swanson already talking about him and it should come as no surprise as to why he has so much popularity.

McGregor has his own way of doing things and it’s made him extremely well-liked. Everybody wants to see what he’s going to do from there. And more power to him, because he’s doing exactly what he needs to be doing to get these fights that he wants.”
