A middleweight scrap took place on the main card of UFC Fight Night 91. The competitors were Tim Boetsch (19-10) and Josh Samman (12-4).

A head scratching strategy with some corner dissension doomed Samman.

Samman caught the kick of Boetsch and went for a body lock. “Anqa” pushed his opponent against the fence and landed a knee to the body. “The Barbarian” took Samman down and landed a right hand on the ground. Samman returned to his feet and landed a knee. “Anqa” kicked the leg of Boetsch and went for the back. Samman’s corner called for him to slow his pace down. Boetsch pushed his opponent off and landed a leg kick. A head kick from Samman pushed Boetsch towards the cage.

Boetsch pressed forward at the start of round two and ended with a body kick. Samman went for his own body kick, but it was caught and he was taken down. “The Barbarian” stood up and dropped some heavy punches. Boetsch looked to crank the arm of Samman. He then dropped some heavy ground and pound in back mount and referee “Big” John McCarthy had seen enough.

Commentators Jon Anik and Kenny Florian expressed their surprise in Samman’s decision to grapple with Boetsch, who is known for tossing his opponents with ease. The frantic pace of the first round certainly didn’t do “Anqa” any favors either, who left Sioux Falls with a loss and a hematoma over his eye.
