This Grappling Phenom Owns More Outfits Than Most Athletes Own Gis – Helena Crevar
Helena Crevar has become one of the most recognizable names in submission grappling at just 18 years old, with her 346-7 career record speaking to her technical dominance. Her recent ONE Championship debut at ONE Fight Night 39 saw her submit Teshya Noelani Alo via Estima Lock in just 100 seconds. Yet beyond her achievements as the youngest ADCC medalist in history, Crevar has cultivated another distinction: owning one of the most extensive competition outfit collections in the sport.
Helena Crevar Owns 50+ Competition Outfits: Inside Her Fightwear Collection
During a recent interview with Kyle Diamond of Bloody Elbow ahead of her ONE debut, Crevar discussed her wardrobe with the same level of dedication she applies to her technique.
“I don’t have an exact number, but I’m sure that I own between probably at least 50 different designs for both training and competition,” Crevar explained. The collection represents an ongoing collaboration with her primary sponsor, Tatami Fightwear, with whom she regularly develops new looks. “I try to make new designs when my sponsors, Tatami, like every month or so we kind of look for new designs, so there are definitely still some that I haven’t worn yet,” she noted.

Crevar’s approach goes beyond simple aesthetics. She views her competition attire as an extension of her performance identity, creating anticipation for fans beyond just her grappling. “I’d say I probably have the most different outfits and designs,” she stated confidently. “I always try to make new ones that will also get the crowd excited – not just my jiu-jitsu, but also how I dress and how I style – so kind of putting those two things combined”.
The partnership with Tatami Fightwear has evolved into a full signature collection. In August 2025, Tatami officially launched the Helena Crevar Collection, featuring six matching sets designed specifically for female grapplers. The release included designs with names like Tiger, Snake, and various other patterns that mirror Crevar’s distinctive on-mat style. Tatami’s announcement revealed technical details about the outfits that explain their performance advantages. “Not many people will know that Helena’s outfits have always consisted of leotards with leggings, creating the illusion of an all-in-one suit,” the company explained. “These have been tried and tested by Helena over many years, and are complete with a range of hook & eye fastenings, to ensure no movement or risk of rising up when training or competing”.
This technical innovation addresses a common issue female grapplers face regarding uniform security during competition. The leotard-and-leggings combination creates what appears to be a seamless rashguard set while providing additional security features traditionally unavailable in standard grappling gear.
The Las Vegas native trains under John Danaher at New Wave Jiu-Jitsu in Austin, Texas, where she became Danaher’s first female black belt in June 2025. Her competitive achievements include silver at the 2024 ADCC World Championship at age 17, making her the youngest finalist in the event’s history. She also holds the Polaris 70-kilogram title and multiple IBJJF World and Pan Championship titles across different belt levels. Her record now stands at 346 wins against just 7 losses, with 306 of those victories coming by submission.
When asked during the Bloody Elbow interview whether anyone competes with her for having the most varied competition wardrobe, Crevar acknowledged Craig Jones as a potential contender but maintained her position. Jones had previously worn similar styled gear when promoting one of Crevar’s matches, creating a playful rivalry in the fashion department. However, Crevar’s monthly design releases with Tatami and her dedicated collection give her a clear edge in variety.
Crevar’s signature looks have become part of her identity in the grappling community. “Knowing that such a big crowd is watching, it just motivates me to be even more interesting.”
