Stefan Struve Talks UFC 175 Fainting Episode: It’s Nothing To Do With My Heart
UFC heavyweight Stefan Struve was set to make a comeback after more than a year away from MMA, as he warmed up for his UFC 175 burner with Matt Mitrione. His triumphant return was cut short though, as ‘The Skyscraper’ suffered a fainting episode and was pulled from the card. ‘Meathead’ was obviously unable to compete and the fight was a scratch.
Growing concerns among fans are that Struve’s heart condition may have had some say in his fainting backstage, but the Dutch kickboxer was adamant that this wasn’t the case. Check out what he posted to his Twitter account yesterday:
What happened had nothing to do with my heart. But everything that has happened left mental scare that I really underestimated.

I want to thank @ufc, @danawhite and @lorenzofertitta for their ungoing support and confidence in me. They even paid me show + win bonus

This is good news for fans of the big man from Holland, as a recurrence of symptoms from his leaky heart valve may have proved very negative for his hopes of a future return. As it stands, the seven foot ‘Skyscraper’ may have just stood up too quick and suffered vertigo…..seriously though, I’m glad that it’s nothing serious by the looks of things.
With no return date as of yet, will Struve come back stronger, or will the division move past him as he is sidelined once again?
