Now firmly under the same fighting umbrella, Patricio Pitbull has welcomed the chance to take on Brazilian compatriot, Jose Aldo in the future — ahead of his long-anticipated Octagon debut next weekend at UFC 314.

Pitbull, a former two-weight champion with Bellator MMA, is set to finally make good on a long-mooted outing with the UFC next weekend, taking on former interim champion, Yair Rodriguez in his first outing for the organization.

And long considered one of the greatest featherweight fighters of all-time, Niteroi native, Pitbull has forever been linked with a move to the UFC — particularly during the reign of countryman, Aldo.

Himself booked to fight Aiemann Zahabi next month at UFC 315 in Canada, Brazilian icon, Aldo has been tied to a fight with younger Pitbull sibling over the last few years to boot.

And as far as the incoming debutante is concerned, finishing his career without sharing the cage with Aldo would lead him to some regretful thinking.

“I don’t have this desire to fight (Jose) Aldo, nothing like that, but for the context, if an offer comes from the UFC, I would be happy to take it,” Patricio Pitbull told MMA Fighting. “I think it’s a fight that if ends up not happening, it would leave a taste like, ‘Damn, they haven’t fought each other after so much time as featherweight champions.’”

Going on to heap praise at the door of compatriot, Aldo, Pitbull went on to acknowledge the Manaus veteran was likely the greatest featherweight fighter in the history of the sport.

“For Aldo and people in the UFC, everybody is sure he’s the best featherweight of all time,” Patricio Pitbull said, “But some people that know fighting [say], ‘There’s also Patricio, and maybe he could be fighting for the title of who’s the greatest.’ Anyway, I think the best way to settle this would be in a fight. We know it wouldn’t determine who was the best or who has done more, but in a fight we would at least have an answer, we’d know who catches fire first, and the winner would leave a great mark. I don’t have this desire of fighting Aldo, but it would be a good fight to make.”
