Justin Gaethje Batters Paddy Pimblett to Capture Interim Gold – UFC 324 Highlights
Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett delivered an early Fight of the Year contender in their explosive UFC 324 main event.
From the opening bell, Gaethje came out with his foot on the pedal and looking to knock out the Liverpudlian early. He nearly did exactly that after catching Pimblett near the fence with a right hand that put ‘The Baddy’ on the mat. Gaethje lit up Pimblett with some nasty ground strikes, but like they say, you can’t knock out a scouser.

Gaethje’s pace showed no signs of slowing in the second, though there was a moment of controversy after it appeared that Gaethje inadvertently poked Pimblett in the eye before scoring another knockdown with a right hand. Pimblett never appeared to protest, nor did referee Marc Goddard acknowledge the foul.

Gaethje finally started to slow a bit in the third and appeared to be having some sort of issue with his right hand. Still, that didn’t stop Gaethje from throwing heat in both the fourth and fifth rounds as Pimblett desperately tried to fight his way back into the bout.
In the end, it was Gaethje who would deliver the majority of the punishment and walk away with a well-deserved victory over the UK fan favorite.

Official Result: Justin Gaethje def. Paddy Pimblett via unanimous decision (48-47, 49-46, 49-46) to capture the interim lightweight championship.
