Joe Rogan questions Khabib Nurmagomedov’s 29-0 record

Khabib Nurmagomedov made his UFC debut in 2012 against Kamal Shalorus and won by Round 3 submission. In his second UFC fight, the Russian phenom locked horns with MMA veteran Gleison Tibau, and Tibau was not easy game for a then-surging and inexperienced Nurmagomedov.

In the three-rounder vs.Tibau, “The Eagle” was desperate to drag Tibau to the mat. However, the Brazilian fighter showed impeccable takedown defense, stopping all 13 takedowns and even scoring one of his own.
Although Nurmagomedov controlled the pace, he didn’t land anything significant. Tibau, on the other hand, landed clean counters but failed to control the center of the octagon for most of the three rounds.

Joe Rogan, who was cageside commentating for this 2012 fight, believed Gleison Tibau had done enough to win. However, the judges saw it differently. Khabib Nurmagomedov was ahead on the scorecards and was awarded a unanimous decision victory.

On JRE, talking about this bout, which Rogan belives “The Eagle” should have lost, he said:

“I think Gleison is the one guy that should’ve beaten him. Khabib’s got an undefeated record, there’s an asterisk— They had a very f***ing close fight that I thought Khabib lost.”
