Conor McGregor used a joint UFC 329 interview to turn up the pressure on Max Holloway, brushing off his old rival’s confidence and promising he would leave the fight “unscathed.” The exchange came as the two men spoke with Joe Rogan ahead of their scheduled rematch at UFC 329 on July 11, 2026.

McGregor spent much of the interview talking up the gap between them, saying Holloway “won’t land a punch” and insisting, “This is a different realm when you’re up against me.” He also said he would “leave this fight unhurt and in all glory,” while dismissing Holloway as “my child” when the Hawaiian tried to fire back.

Holloway did not back down. He answered McGregor’s trash talk with his usual calm style, at one point responding, “I love this,” and saying he expects to beat McGregor and push for another meeting later this year.

The rematch is official and has been billed as UFC 329: McGregor vs Holloway 2, with the main event set for July 11, 2026, in Las Vegas. The matchup is being positioned as McGregor’s return after a long layoff.

The pair have history going back to 2013, when McGregor beat Holloway by unanimous decision. That first fight remains a key part of the build, with McGregor repeatedly pointing to their earlier meeting as proof that the matchup favors him.

This is a familiar McGregor formula: confidence, needle, and a lot of line-crossing language aimed at getting a reaction. The difference here is that Holloway has built a stronger reputation since their first meeting, so the back-and-forth carries more weight than a standard fight-week exchange.

For McGregor, the interview was another chance to sell the idea that Holloway cannot live with him. For Holloway, it was a reminder that he is not going to be talked over. The result was a short, sharp exchange that added heat to a fight already carrying plenty of history.
