Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman suffered the first loss of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career at UFC 194 this past weekend (December 12, 2015), surrendering his title in a fourth round stoppage loss to Luke Rockhold.

While Weidman seemed to be having some success early on, the fight began to go downhill in the third frame, and the brutal finish would come in the fourth after “The All-American” was bloodied and battered.

Speaking on the fight via his official Facebook page, Weidman admitted that he didn’t feel like himself on fight night, but that he is now more motivated than ever:

“I will remember this moment forever,” Weidman wrote in a post accompanied by a photo of him from after the fight. “It has already changed me for the better. The motivation I have inside myself has never been stronger. I did not feel like myself in there for many reasons but it was a loss that I needed and deserved.”

Continuing on, the former champion claimed that the situation is all part of a master plan, but that his eyes are now firmly set on regaining the 185-pound title:

‘I have been playing back different moments in the fight where i didn’t do or react the way I should have but this was all part of a true master plan that God has in store for me I will be back and I will be champion again,” Weidman said. “I just wanna let everyone know that I am ok. I am so blessed with an amazing family, friends, team and fans. Thank you all so much for the support. It means more now than ever.”
