Chael Sonnen Reportedly In to Face Shogun at UFC 161
Apparently Chael Sonnen’s mouth has talked him into another big fight, but to be honest, the UFC truly needs him this time around. When news broke yesterday that Shogun Rua’s opponent Rogerio Nogueira was out of UFC 161 with an injury, the promotion was left clamoring to find a suitable replacement for Lil Nog.
And not surprisingly, Sonnen quickly took to Twitter to call Shogun out. Now, it appears that the fight will actually come to fruition as Ivan Raupp of Globo just tweeted the following:

We’re still waiting on confirmation from the UFC, but this could come as a bit of saving grace for UFC 161, which was already in dire straits after the interim bantamweight title bout between Renan Barao and Eddie Wineland was scrapped due to a Barao injury. Sonnen is in desperate need of a win to stay at all relevant, but if the news is true, he’ll have no easy task in the form of Shogun. More on the developing story as it arises.
