Carlos Prates fires knockout threat at Conor McGregor: “I would hurt him bad, I would knock him out”
Carlos Prates has denied the recent headline-grabbing rumor that was circulating on the web that he will be facing former UFC double champion Conor McGregor at the White House.
Via Instagram, the Brazilian, who is the No. 5-ranked 170-pounder, has made it clear that he has his crosshairs on the UFC welterweight championship and wants to get fights that will get him even closer to a title shot.
Carlos Prates’ sole loss in the UFC came against Ian Machado Garry in 2025. However, “The Nightmare” bounced back impressively by scoring a first-round knockout over Geoff Neal at UFC 319 and then becoming the first man to knock out Leon Edwards at UFC 322.
The 32-year-old wants to fight former champion Jack Della Maddalena next, and a fight with “The Notorious” does not seem to intrigue him at the moment. He told his fans:
A lot of you guys have been asking me about the Conor McGregor fight. And I didn’t get anything from UFC yet. I am really happy you guys are saying my name. Of course, it would be a huge honor for me to fight against him. I really want the fight that is going to bring me the title shot. JDM.”
Carlos Prates sends chilling warning to Conor McGregor
About the potential Conor McGregor bout, Carlos Prates added that it’s hard to happen, and “The Notorious” won’t want to fight the “most entertaining welterweight in the world,” who would hurt him real bad, and knock him out:
“Conor McGregor, to be honest, I think the fight is hard to make happen because Conor McGregor has been out for five years. He’s been retired from MMA, and after five years away, he would not beg to fight against the most entertaining welterweight in the world. Nothing against him, but everybody knows, and I know he knows that I would hurt him bad. I would knock him out. So I don’t think it’s the right way to make a comeback of the huge superstar like him.”
Lastly, “The Nightmare” said:
“I am waiting for the UFC to send me any name, any place, I am just ready to fight. Of course, I want the title shot. So JDM, Conor McGregor, let’s work.”

Meanwhile, McGregor, who wants to make his much-anticipated comeback on the UFC White House Card, has claimed he has been offered a “no-name” opponent whom he’s agreed to fight and has repeatedly urged the UFC to send him the contract.

Most recently, he also showed interest in the Michael Chandler matchup, which fans still want to see in 2026, but Dana White does not.
