Bellator 120’s Michael Page “Very Confident” Heading Into The Biggest Fight Of His Career

In just two years Michael “Venum” Page has managed to come quite a long way in his MMA career.

The standout British kickboxer has had five professional fights, winning them all in spectacular fashion. Page hasn’t been to a decision yet, with three knockouts and two submissions.

Two of the Brits KO’s have come in highlight fashion. One in his MMA debut knocking out Ben Dishman with a gravity-defying tornado kick. The other came in his first fight for Bellator, stoping Ryan Sanders with a expertly timed right straight in just ten seconds.

Page comes from a kickboxing background which is nothing new in MMA but what makes him stand out from the rest is his unique, unpredictable style. The 27-year old says this comes from his form of the martial art:

“Everyone’s a different character, but they didn’t necessarily come from my style of kickboxing, which is completely different to the majority of the fighters that you’re going to see,” Page said in a recent interview with MMAweekly.com

“Not many fighters have come from my style of kickboxing, which is like freestyle points kickboxing. Having those elements has made me completely different and hard to figure out for my opponents.”

That style has put him where he is today, about to kickoff Bellator’s main card on their first ever pay-per-view. Page will take on Ricky Rainey, another kickboxer, who is 4-1 in his last five fights and he is very confident coming into the fight.

“I think I just need to go out there and be me,” Page said. “I think (Rainey’s) got the bigger task in regards to having to figure out what he’s going to do against me.

He’s quite a conventional kickboxer and has a solid base and is strong in his clinch work and so forth, but other than that, I feel very confident in this next fight.”

The fight is still going to be the biggest of Page’s career and he is up against his toughest opponent yet. But he is taking it in his stride and says people will see what his hype is all about.

“I see my career is going to be long lasting and eventually everyone’s going to see and believe in the hype as well,” he said. “So for me, I’ve just got to go out there and be me. It’s a privilege to be on this show, but I’m going to just go out there and enjoy the moment.”
