Two More Injuries Change The Shape Of UFC 163’s Card

More bad news for the Rio De Janeiro based UFC 163 card, as injuries remove two more fighters from the card. After having already lost Anthony Pettis, Josh Koscheck and Robert Drysdale due to injury, UFC 163 is also going to be missing Clint Hester and Phil Harris.

Harris tweeted this nasty picture of a fractured orbital bone, while Hester suffered torn cartilage in his ribs, which can’t be nice. The switch ups of their matches are as follows; Cezar Ferreira will now newcomer Thiago Santos at Middleweight, while John Lineker will welcome UFC noob Jose Maria Tome at Flyweight.

The card, which is headlined by by Jose Aldo vs. Korean Zombie, has certainly had it’s fair share of bumps along the way. I certainly hope it can overcome the adversity and deliver a strong card. Here is how the card looks at the moment:

Pay-per-view main card:

Jose Aldo (c) vs. Chan Sung Jung — UFC featherweight title

Phil Davis vs. Lyoto Machida

Cezar Ferreira vs. Thiago Santos

Thales Leites vs. Tom Watson

John Lineker vs. Jose Maria Tome

FX prelims:

Vinny Magalhaes vs. Anthony Perosh

Sheila Gaff vs. Amanda Nunes

Neil Magny vs. Sergio Moraes

Ian McCall vs. Iliarde Santos

Facebook prelims:

Josh Clopton vs. Rani Yahya

Francimar Barroso vs. Ednaldo Oliveira

Viscardi Andrade vs. Bristol Marunde

  • 'll be moving that weekend anyway, sooooo

    • Since Aldo will win and Machida will win (usually wont speculate that much) I'll be fine 8))

      • finally decided to move to Canada eh? can't blame ya we love to go out and aboooot!

        • no guns allowed though you do get health care fair trade i say

          • No, I'll stay here and fight for my freedom, thanks anyways.

          • ok but did i mention the snow , the tim hortons and the hockey i mean come on who doesn't love cheap coffee and hockey. 🙂

          • I got the chills just reading your reply. I hate the cold, I'd probably die in the first winter 8P

    • Yeah, it's not looking good for the PPV sales on this event.

      • I'm as hyped up for this card as a prostate examination.

Give it to me ! yeh

      • Here is a topic worth considering. What have been the best cards delivered in UFC history?uuummmm?

        • All of them that dont consist of a prostate exam 8))

  • Man…. there are only 3 or 4 really good fights, what a shame this card that was originally great has turned in to this.
I'll obviously watch anyway but damn….

    • How do you know there's only 3 or 4 good fights? We've had stacked cards before that SUCKED !! and cards that looked bad but turned out great, with amazing fights.

      • It still should not cost people much if any money to watch these fights. Dana is full of it when he says it's ridiculous to complain about a card until you see how the fights turn out. On a free TV card that might be true. But when you see a great card advertised for months, it is disappointing when it becomes 1 big under card with 1 Title fight at the end of it.

People pay because they want to see the fighters they know and love. (or hate) We want to see if they progress or if they have setbacks. An under card full of KO's is not worth as much money as a stacked card with known great fighters. "No one knows who they are. No one cares." Chuck Liddell is right. I know Dana won't ever give people refunds or anything like that. But he should at least stop acting like a couple good fights makes a card worth the same as having GSP, Silva, Jones, Aldo, and Chael all in the same night.

        • oh for sure i agree it should be free or cheaper if big names drop out… but it still looks like a pretty exciting card.

      • @thexperience I'm obviously talking about good fights on paper

  • Should no longer be a pay per view….

  • yep i would't pay $5 for this ppv

    • I'd pay 5 dollars but not much more.

      • you guys are cheap, i would pay at least $5.10

  • How about making it real exciting, and putting Machida vs Aldo…Way cooler. Aldo but point leg kicks, or Machida by vicious head kick… this fight could redeem interest and bring in more $$$

    • lol, if that happened, all I could say is "poor poor Aldo" 8P
