UFC President Dana White was a guest on the SiriusXM Fight Club during Wednesday afternoon and stated that he’s not getting too excited about the possibility of MMA being legalized in the state of New York.

“I guess I gotta say what I’ve been saying all along: I’m just going to sit back and see what happens,” White said. “I just don’t get too optimistic about New York anymore … even though right now looks really optimistic. We’ll see what happens.”

The bill is supposed to be either approved or denied on Wednesday night.

Once the conversation began between White and the hosts, the hosts switched to a sore subject for the UFC’s head honcho. That subject was his former UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones.

Jones, was allegedly involved in a hit and run accident in New Mexico a few months ago that resulted in the promotion stripping him of the title and suspending him indefinitely.

White commented on the possibility of Jones returning to the world-famous octagon.

“He is just laying low and handling his business, man,” White said. “I don’t know when we are going to see him again. I honestly don’t know.”

When asked what if Jones couldn’t fight on the card in the state of New York. White responded with the swift and decisive answer.

“It would definitely suck, but he’s in a situation and he’s got to handle his business. We will bring a good card there with Jon Jones or without him.”

The UFC has high hopes for the bill to be passed, but now, it’s time to sit back and wait it out.
