WSOF 28 Results: Marlon Moraes Finishes Joseph Barajas

WSOF 28

It was once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Saturday, February 20th, 2016) will come from WSOf 28. Headlining the card are Marlon Moraes and Joseph Barajas, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the rest of the main card.

Marlon Moraes and Joseph Barajas met in a bantamweight title bout in the main event. This one did not last long. Moraes landed a kick to the right knee of Barajas and Barajas went down. Moraes jumps on him, and the fight is stopped. Moraes retains the bantamweight title in just 1 minute and 13 seconds.

Timur Valiev and Chris Gutierrez met in a bantamweight bout in the co-main event. Valiev took him down early in round one, but Gutierrez popped off his back and got back to his feet. Valiev mixed up his kicks in the second round, which helped him set up his takedowns. Valiev dominated the majority of this round with ground and pound from guard. Gutierrez came out desperate in the third round and was trying to score a knockout. Even though Valiev controlled most of the fight, the judges thought different and awarded Gutierrez the win by split decision.

Jamie Yager and Greg Parker met in a welterweight bout. Yager quickly took Parker down and locked in a scarf hold armlock for the win in the first round. Quick fight.

Opening the main card on NBCSN was Ozzie Alvarez vs. Andrew Ramm in a welterweight bout. Alvarez controlled the lackluster first round with takedowns and his grappling from top position. In the second round, Alvarez’s strikes make Ramm tentative. However, Ramm finally connects late in the round but can’t capitalize as he’s taken down and controlled. Alvarez landed a big takedown at the beginning of the third round. Ramm got up to his feet late in the round and swung for the fences, but it was little too late. The judges awarded Alvarez the win by unanimous decision.
