Will Fleury Talks Intense Training With Elite UFC Prospect “He’s A Beast”

Ireland’s own double champion Will Fleury defends his heavyweight crown this weekend at Oktagon 81.

The Irishman primarily trains in his homeland of the Emerald Isle but has been over in the north west of England getting some training in at Manchester Top Team. The UK gym is home to some of the hottest talents in Britain and have a plethora of fighters across the top MMA organisations. Most notably UFC featherweight Lerone Murphy whom is rumoured to be headlining the UFC London event in March next year. Murphy was snubbed for a title shot at 145lbs and will most likely face Movsar Evolev in a number one contender match up in the English capital.

Will Fleury Speaks On Ateba Gautier

Born in Cameroon but training out of Manchester Top Team, Ateba Gautier burst onto the UFC scene in 2025 with a sensational debut year in the elite MMA organisation. He has quickly become one of the most exciting prospects on the roster and is already booked for the first card of 2026, UFC 324.

When asked about his training in Manchester, Fleury had this to say,

“Over here a lot of bigger lads, Ateba [Gautier] mostly this week….. he’s a beast. Like you got to keep your P&Qs around him.” Fleury followed up speaking about the size of the UFC middleweight prospect, “He’s like the same size as me this week, I’m 107kg and he’s like 104kg. But yeah he’s f*****g huge.”

Fleury spoke about the reasons behind training Manchester for parts of this camp, ” Myself and Carl [Moore] know each other inside out and like all the boys in SBG I’ve been well used to if you know what I mean. So, it’s more just different bodies, different looks and even like Carl Prince’s coaching.” All quotes via Brandon Talks Fighting YouTube channel.
