UFC's Ailín Pérez Eyes "Battle of the Butts" Fight After Macy Chiasson Showdown

Argentina’s Ailín Pérez has her hands full preparing for Macy Chiasson at UFC Mexico on February 28, but the bantamweight contender is already looking ahead to what fans are calling “The Battle of the Butts” against Norma Dumont.

Pérez faces Chiasson in the co-main event at Arena CDMX in Mexico City. The matchup pits the number 8 ranked Pérez against number 7 Chiasson in what could determine the next title challenger in the division. Pérez enters riding a five-fight winning streak, the longest active run in the women’s bantamweight division. Her most recent victory came at UFC 311 in January, where she defeated Karol Rosa via unanimous decision.

Chiasson presents a challenge despite entering on a two-fight skid. The 34-year-old dropped decisions to Ketlen Vieira and Yana Santos in 2025, with the Santos fight marred by a 1.5-pound weight miss. Before those setbacks, Chiasson earned performance bonuses for stoppage wins over Pannie Kianzad and Mayra Bueno Silva in 2024.

What has generated attention beyond the UFC Mexico fight is a potential matchup between Pérez and Dumont, ranked number 4 in the bantamweight division. The two have history dating back to 2023 when Pérez called out Dumont, describing it as “a battle the butts.” Both fighters have developed reputations for their physiques, with Pérez known for her post-fight twerk celebrations and Dumont drawing commentary from UFC reporter Laura Sanko about her build, saying that she is driving a dump truck.

In a recent interview with Gabriel Gonzalez about the Dumont matchup, Pérez leaned into the narrative. “I want them to look at everything because I bring the show,” Pérez said. “I have a fan club of all types, all platforms, in all corners, and in all languages. And they want to see the butts. So I am willing. I’ll mess you up and show you the butt.”

The 30-year-old from Zárate has cultivated a following for her personality outside the octagon. She maintains over 500,000 Instagram followers and operates a content account, which became profitable enough to purchase a car. Pérez defended the celebration as part of her identity, saying dancing has been central to her life since childhood.

Pérez started training at age 11 in kung fu and sanda before transitioning to mixed martial arts. After a submission loss in her UFC debut in 2022, she has rattled off five straight wins over Ashlee Evans-Smith, Lucie Pudilová, Joselyne Edwards, Darya Zheleznyakova, and Rosa. Her victory over Evans-Smith set a UFC women’s bantamweight record with 10 takedowns.

Dumont has won six straight fights and currently holds the number 4 ranking after defeating Ketlen Vieira in November 2025. The Brazilian has expressed little interest in the “battle of the butts” framing, preferring to focus on her fighting credentials. Dumont holds a 13-2 record with notable wins over Irene Aldana and Germaine de Randamie.

The February 28 card is headlined by former flyweight champion Brandon Moreno facing Asu Almabayev. For Pérez, a win over Chiasson would move her closer to a top-five ranking and potentially set up the Dumont fight she has sought for years. Whether the UFC books that matchup remains to be seen, though the fan interest suggests it could draw attention to a division in need of fresh contenders.
