Travis Thompson Vows To Fold Joshua Oxendine in Philly at BKFC KnuckleMania VI
Travis Thompson battles Joshua Oxendine at BKFC KnuckleMania VI on February 7th, and the former is stoked to be back in Philly. His previously scheduled bout last July in Philly fell out, and when mentioning it seemed to be a super exciting time to be back in the city of brotherly love, Thompson said [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],
“Absolutely. So, this is KnuckleMania 6. I did KnuckleMania 1. Just did KnuckleMania 5. Now, we’re coming back to do KnuckleMania 6. I want to get my third stoppage at KnuckleMania 6. KnuckleMania is my time.”
The last KnuckleMania was specifically in Philly as well, and when touching on the connectivity piece of the tentpole event returning to the same city, Thompson stated [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],
“Absolutely. I love being in Philly. I mean, it’s not far from my house. Like maybe 45 minutes from the stadium. So, it’s great. I love being here. I got a lot of fans, a lot of friends, family that are going to be there. So, it’s gonna be a great time. I love fighting in Philly. Josh is coming to my hometown. He’s coming to my venue. So, he’s not just fighting me, he’s fighting Philly. He’s gonna be f**ked.”
Oxendin is a former BKB title challenger but is taking a pretty big jump into the deep end of the pool here. When mentioning how it shows his gamesmanship by debuting in BKFC against probably the most tenured person in the promotion, who fought on BKFC 1 and is still doing great things now, Thompson quipped [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],
“Absolutely. I’m giving him props, you know. Good for you coming in here and it’s my job to show you that you don’t belong here. It’s my job to show you that, you know, you should have stayed in the other place. You want to come here, it’s my job to stop you and that’s what I’m going to do.”
Travis Thompson to Joshua Oxendine: ” you’re testing yourself with the wrong f**king person”
When asked what Joshua Oxendine brings to the table in terms of the bare-knuckle acumen, Thompson said [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],
“I mean, I agree with you. You know, I have respect for his skills. I have respect for him coming to BKFC and trying to test himself. But you’re testing yourself with the wrong f**king person. He’s got a great jab. He’s a great boxer. I don’t box, I brawl. He’s going to get pressure. He does not like pressure. When he gets pressure, he folds. He’s going to fold February 7th.”
When questioned about how familiar he was with Joshua Oxendine heading into the Oxendine booking being made official, Thompson stated [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],
“I mean, I do know of him. I have known of him. I don’t give a s**t. Like, I’m not being disrespectful to the other promotion either, but we have a different caliber of fighter in BKFC than they have in BKB, BYB, whatever it’s called. We’re going to see that come February 7th, you know. Great, he was going for a championship against who is it? Mark [Irwin]… Another great dude.”
“I like Mark a lot. I mean, and that was a great blood bath. They had a great fight. Mark will not put the pressure on him like I’m going to put on him. Mark pulled out the win with his pressure. My pressure is twice as much as what Mark can do.”
