Joe Elmore Eyes Legendary Fight Against Former Champ Mike Richman at BKFC KnuckleMania VI
Joe Elmore and Mike Richman are locked in for what looks to be a high-octane bout at BKFC KnuckleMania VI on February 7th. Touching upon the mentality heading into this clash with a well-traveled gloveless combatant like Richman, Joe Elmore said [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],
“Just getting prepared, man. It’s the biggest card of the year for BKFC and one of the biggest fights I’ve had in a long time. So, got to be ready.”
When addressing how it feels to be fighting a former multi-time BKFC champion at the promotion’s big tentpole event of the year, Joe Elmore stated [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],
“People don’t see the politics behind everything. They see politics. Politics is forefront and everything, especially online. But it’s also; it’s sometimes you just got to scream out loud. Sometimes you got to piss people off. Sometimes you got to make people happy. Sometimes you just got to put yourself out there. Then I like to go flat and be the good husband, father, family time, Christmas, and get those things done.”
“But at the same time, I’m a fighter full-time and BKFC is what I love. Because I do put on the fights I put on, I feel like I have to be in a big position. So whether it’s a main event or co-main event or something like this, it’s hard to be patient and let the universe provide what you need when you need it. But this is bigger than anything I would have picked for myself.”
“I’m freaking excited, man. [ex] 185 [pound] champion, Mike ‘the Marine’ Richman. A real soldier, a real fighter, has fought the biggest, the smallest anywhere and everywhere. You got me that will fight anybody on any day. I think it’s a matchup that’s excited me. It’s made me push harder in camp. It makes me enjoy the sacrifices.”
“Plus, I’m getting in shape again. It feels good to just be in fighter shape. Yeah, man, I like sacrificing and I’m excited to do it so these these fans can say, “Hey, man, why is he not on every KnuckleMania from now on?” So yeah, that’s the hope. Then I want that red panty night. Already said I want Conor McGregor to walk in there and go, we got to double these fellas purse. That was the fight of the century, mate. Yeah, so I’m ready.”
Joe Elmore also asked for Eddie Alvarez and Mike Perry clashes in BKFC
‘The Marine’ and Elmore had a bit of a tussle in the crowd a little bit ago at a prior BKFC Hollywood card, which generated some buzz. When expounding upon how Mike Richman became the opponent here and referencing some of the buildup heading into this fight, Joe Elmore quipped [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],
“Yeah, both of us have kind of been sitting back and it’s mad respect. But we needed to; we created a moment where like hey, we wanted people to know that we wanted this fight. We needed people to imagine it and you have to allow people to see what’s going to be in destiny and it had come up through a conversation.”
“I don’t want to break any ways, but it was mentioned. Actually I just made a comment to Dave, David Felman and I was like, “Dude, I need legendary fights.” I typed let me get Eddie Alvarez in Philly. Let me get whoever, dude. I just want fights that people remember forever. This is like me texting it now, but obviously my passionate voice here.”
I had said Mike and I was talking about Mike Perry, King of Violence. Just cuz I wanted money fights, big fights, legendary fights. I think that was… because eventually it became, did you want to fight Mike Richman? I was like that Mike too. Wow. Why didn’t I think of that? I think the universe just kind of spoke it out that way.”
“I talked to BKFC, some of the guys on a Zoom meeting today before you, and that’s what the execs told me. They said, “Joe, we want to make sure you got everything you need for KnuckleMania. It’s our biggest card of the year. The people expect big things.””
“But to be honest with you, once we heard you and Mike Richman were going to fight each other in the background as an idea before it became a contracted fight, everybody got excited. That’s what I want. So, I’m just excited to make people excited.”
