Petr Yan Calls Out ‘Old’ Urijah Faber For Ducking Him

Yan Faber

UFC bantamweight contender Petr Yan isn’t letting it slide that Urijah Faber chose to ignore him as a potential opponent.

Faber came out of retirement last month and enjoyed a winning return to the Octagon when he knocked out Ricky Simon at UFC Sacramento. With bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo calling him out a month earlier, there was talk of the pair facing each other next.

However, Cejudo will be out for the rest of the year after requiring shoulder surgery. And so, Faber is targeting other opponents in the mean time — mainly Frankie Edgar and Aljamain Sterling.

And this didn’t go down well with Yan:

“Old @UrijahFaber is wise enough to not mention my name,” Yan tweeted. “Don’t act like you don’t know me California grown man. I beat your student, you are welcome to try avenge his loss.”

Yan is referring to Faber’s Team Alpha Male student in Teruto Ishihara who he knocked out in his UFC debut. In all, “No Mercy” is 5-0 in the UFC and has emerged as one of the top contenders at 135 pounds.

It will be interesting to see if Faber comes up with a response.

Do you think Yan deserves to fight for the title next? Or even Faber?
