Confidence or Arrogance? Ian Machado Garry Already Has a Championship Frame Ready
Ian Machado Garry is booming with confidence ahead of the biggest fight of his career.
The Future” is going to challenge P4P king and welterweight titleholder Islam Makhachev next weekend in the main event of UFC 330.
The Irishman has already defeated tough 170-pound rivals, including Belal Muhammad and Carlos Prates, demonstrating his ability to perform well even in short-notice bouts, and he is now prepared with a game plan for Makhachev.
Garry plans to show three rounds of pure dominance on August 15 and then secure a finish in the fourth stanza.
Most recently, during a FaceTime session with Eddie Hearn, “The Future” showcased the frame he has already installed in his home to display the UFC welterweight title.
“As much as I respect Islam, as much as I know how good he is and I know how talented he is, I know that I can beat him if I go out there and do what I believe I can do.”
Before showing Hearn the frame Garry has installed in his house to display the UFC welterweight title, the Dubliner said:
“I got this [new frame to hold the 170-pound strap] made a while ago, and I feel like this is something I and you would like.”
Garry then showed the empty frame above his Cage Warriors welterweight strap. The empty frame that could soon have the UFC 170-pound strap is currently titled “UFC World Champion coming soon”.

Ian Machado Garry is being underestimated before UFC 330
Islam Makhachev and his coach, Javier Mendez, believe Ian Machado Garry lacks the takedown defense to give Makhachev a hard time.
The UFC two-division champion believes that at UFC 330, although taking Garry down might be difficult because “The Future” loves to run, once Makhachev gets the takedown, he can submit Garry in no time.
However, Garry has been working on his wrestling and grappling for months. He even traveled to Gori, Georgia, and has taken help from southpaw wrestlers, who can help him solve the Makhachev puzzle come August 15.
We have previously seen Georgian phenom Merab Dvalishvili give Islam Makhachev’s teammate Umar Nurmagomedov a hard time at UFC 311 by scoring multiple takedowns and stuffing many of Umar’s own attempts. Now, if Garry, who traveled to Georgia to train, can replicate something similar against Makhachev and break the Russian phenom’s confidence during the fight, he could have a strong chance of dethroning the 34-year-old.
