Nate Diaz Breaks Silence on Lost Conor McGregor Trilogy: “I’m nobody’s comeback story”

Conor McGregor commends rivalry with Nate Diaz UFC

Nate Diaz has zero interest in being a part of former UFC double champion Conor McGregor’s comeback story and has therefore alleged that he snubbed the McGregor trilogy fight.

Diaz will be making his MMA return after a four-year hiatus and will lock horns with Mike Perry on MVP and Netflix’s Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano card on May 16 at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.

McGregor, on the other hand, has been out of action for nearly five years. The Irishman is also expected to make his much-anticipated return in July, on International Fight Week.

Nate Diaz explains why he refused a potential Conor McGregor trilogy fight

Previously, there were rumors that when “The Notorious” returns, fans may finally get the long-awaited Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor trilogy to settle their 1-1 score. However, the Stockton native has no interest in running it back with McGregor at the moment.

During a recent sit-down with Theo Von, Diaz opined that he and “The Notorious” will fight when the time is right. However, currently, he has no interest in serving as McGregor’s comeback opponent. Instead, he wants to face the Irishman once the latter has shaken off the ring rust and snapped his two-fight losing skid.

“Me and Conor will fight again when the time is right, but it’s going to be when we’re both on the uprise, not when someone’s dying out. I’m not nobody’s comeback story.”

“They [UFC] wanted me to come back and fight Conor McGregor, not [Charles] Oliveira. And they were like, okay, we want you to come back and maybe later we can do that. You know who is doing a good job, almost close to the same amount offer – Mike Perry, who’s the most violent mf. I’m more enthusiastic to get up and running and get ready to train for this mf who’s going to knock me out, or I’m gonna knock him out.”
