Islam Makhachev Mocks Former UFC Champ For Having To Ask His Wife Permission
Islam Makhachev has taken a lighthearted jab at an all-time MMA great, who told Makhachev that he would have to seek permission from his wife before coming to Dagestan to train with the current UFC welterweight champion and other members of Team Khabib.
During a recent sit-down with Demetrious Johnson, the P4P king invited “Mighty Mouse” to Dagestan for 2-3 years to train, after hearing which the former UFC flyweight titleholder said:
“I gotta talk to my wife… This is how my marriage works, Islam.”
Meanwhile, Makhachev playfully quipped:
“Talk to wife? You’re the best fighter in the world, bro. You have to ask? You have to tell her but not ask. Bro you have to come to Dagesatn for 2-3 years… Bring all your family bro.”

Islam Makhachev invites another UFC legend to Dagestan for “2-3 weeks”
Current and two-time UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, who has shared the octagon with Islam Makhachev twice, also has plans to come to Dagestan soon for 2-3 days to hunt in the mountains and cook.
However, Makhachev wants the Australian to stay longer in Dagestan, not only to hunt and cook but also to train. The 34-year-old also jokingly urged Volkanovski to skip asking his wife for permission before coming to Dagestan:
“Don’t say like Demetrious Johnson, ‘I have to ask my wife.’ Don’t say that, bro.”
Meanwhile, “The Great” added:
“I will have to actually ask my wife, but she would love it.”

After convincing Volkanovski to come and train in Dagestan soon, Makhachev, who is a fan of the Aussie’s cooking skills, also requested that Volkanovski make his own nutrition team so that he can provide the two-division UFC champ with good food in fight camp:
“Make your nutrition team, and please give us good food, because my nutrition they give me food with no salt and no pepper very hard to eat.”
