Juliana Miller Returns To Win Column With Nasty Submission Over Ravena Oliveira At UFC Vegas 120
Juliana Miller got back in the win column in impressive fashion, submitting Ravena Oliveira with a rear-naked choke at UFC Vegas 120.
The Ultimate Fighter 30 winner entered the bout looking to rebound from a loss in February, while Oliveira was still searching for her first UFC victory. The Brazilian also moved up from strawweight after missing weight in her previous outing.
“Killer” found her rhythm after Oliveira landed a couple of clean shots early on. She closed the distance, worked from the clinch, and eventually dragged the fight to the mat, where her grappling began to take over. Juliana Miller landed elbows from half guard and controlled the remainder of the opening round.
The 30-year-old picked up where she left off in the second. Miller quickly secured another takedown, adjusted her position against the fence, and eventually worked her way to “Kenoudy’s” back. Despite Oliveira’s efforts to turn and escape, Miller locked up a tight rear-naked choke and forced the tap at 1:38 of Round 2.
The victory at UFC Vegas 120 gave Juliana Miller her second promotional win and first finish inside the Octagon. It also marked a much-needed bounce-back performance after her February defeat.
Oliveira, meanwhile, fell to 0-4 in the UFC, leaving her future with the promotion uncertain. Miller improved to 5-4 professionally and showed the grappling-heavy style that made her the TUF 30 champion.
