The MMA Community Rejoices Over Jailton Almeida Being Cut
No. 8-ranked heavyweight fighter Jailton Almeida has been cut from the UFC, as per an update by Laerte Viana.
Dana White and Co. decided to release the 34-year-old after his most recent loss. Almeida took on Rizvan Kuniev this past weekend at UFC Vegas 113 and lost by unanimous decision.
This heavyweight fight on the main card was extremely uneventful. The crowd at the Meta Apex also booed at the ongoing snoozefest. In 15 minutes, the Brazilian landed just 31 strikes, while his Russian foe connected with 43 significant strikes.
In the final 10 seconds, they met in the center of the octagon to stand and trade, but neither landed anything meaningful. In the end, Kuniev had his hand raised.
After losing 3 of his last five fights, Almeida informed the UFC of his decision to move down to light heavyweight. However, that isn’t happening, as he’s no longer a part of the promotion.
