The moment of truth for Phillip Brooks, better known as CM Punk, finally occurred at UFC 203. Punk stepped inside the Octagon at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. Sharing the Octagon with him was Mickey Gall (3-0).

The result was exactly what most fans and analysts expected.

Punk rushed in early and got taken down quickly. Gall rained down punches and moved to side control. Gall passed to full mount and got a hold of his opponent’s back. He landed some punches to get Punk to give up his neck. Gall got his arm under the neck of Punk and forced the submission.

After the fight, Gall paid Punk respect for wanting to fight. He blasted Sage Northcutt, however, and called him corny. He said he wanted to knock the “stupid spikes off his hair.”

Final Result: Mickey Gall def. CM Punk via Submission (rear-naked choke) – R1, 2:14
