Michael Bisping questions Paddy Pimblett’s approach at UFC 324

UFC commentator Michael Bisping has given his thoughts on how Paddy Pimblett did defensively in the main event of UFC 324.

Last weekend at UFC 324, Paddy Pimblett wasn’t quite able to get past Justin Gaethje. He lost via unanimous decision, and while he put forward a great effort, it was ‘The Highlight’ who was really able to shine in Las Vegas and capture the UFC interim lightweight championship. Now, he has set himself up for a likely showdown with undisputed champion Ilia Topuria.

Paddy Pimblett, meanwhile, needs to go back to the drawing board and see how he can improve. There are certainly some positives to take away from the fight but in equal measure, everyone can see that there was a real difference in the power game, even if ‘The Baddy’ has made great strides in that department.

In a recent review show, Michael Bisping had the following to say about Paddy Pimblett’s efforts.

Michael Bisping on Paddy Pimblett’s defensive work at UFC 324

“I mean, listen, we all know what the (Gaethje) is capable of, 14 fights in the UFC, 13 bonuses. He got another one, so that’s 14. He’s the human highlight reel for a reason,” Bisping said on TNT Fight Sports. “But if I’m talking about the fight strategically, I mean, listen, Paddy was great with the heart and everything and he rocked him, and the uppercuts were beautiful, and he caught him with some shots later on in the rounds as Justin was coming forward.

“But I wish he put his chin down a little bit and I wish he brought his hands up a little bit. And I know that’s his style, and he gets away with it, and my word, has he got a chin and I’m impressed. So, I’m not talking trash, but it’s like there could have just been a few better defensive things and maybe we would have had a different result here.”
