Matt Mitrione vs Gabriel Gonzaga Booked For UFC on FOX 13
UFC on FOX 13 is going to be a heavy night
UFC heavyweights Matt Mitrione and Gabriel Gonzaga have been paired for the same card featuring Alistair Overeem vs Stefan Struve. UFC on FOX 13 will go down on December 13th in Phoenix Arizona, and the addition of “Meathead” vs “Napao” just shows that the focus is starting to shift back on to the heaviest weight class.
The absence of heavyweight champion since last year has meant that the division has been somewhat frozen. Mittrione most recently competed at UFC Fight Night Connecticut, smashing highly touted Derrick Lewis and earning yet another knockout victory. Gonzaga is 4-2 since his 2012 return to the big leagues, but had a two-fight spree stopped by Stipe Miocic back in January of this year.
The event in Arizona is yet to have a headliner announced, but hopefully it is another heavyweight bout, perhaps Junior dos Santos’ return? Stipe Miocic and JDS have been talked about recently for the UFC on FOX 13 event, and Ben Rothwell, who recently squashed Alistair Overeem, has been linked to the card numerous times.
Who said the heavyweight division is flat? The return of the division will be a highly anticipated event….
