Manon Fiorot Explains The Changes She Made after Her Loss to Valentina Shevchenko

Manon Fiorot has explained how her mentality shifted in the wake of her defeat to Valentina Shevchenko.

Back in October, Manon Fiorot got herself back in the win column with a nice victory over Jasmine Jasudavicius. However, in the fight prior to that, she suffered only her second career mixed martial arts defeat as she was beaten by Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 315.

It served as Manon Fiorot’s big opportunity to get over the finish line and finally win the big one, but unfortunately for her, things didn’t quite pan out that way. Instead, she was beaten by one of the greatest female fighters of all time, forcing her to go back to the drawing board and figure out what exactly went wrong.

In a recent interview, Manon Fiorot opened up on how exactly her mindset has changed since that night in May of last year.

Manon Fiorot on learning from defeat

“First, back to basic and fundamental and take pleasure in my training and follow the process but with good mind and good vibes. After that, I pay attention on my game plan, on technical, tactic, strategy. To be honest, in my last fight I don’t take a look at my opponent video and stuff like that, and now I’m very focused on that.”

“To be honest, I don’t watch it because I know it’s, I think, a bad fight for me and even if I win two rounds, I don’t have the good mindset for this fight. And yeah, I don’t want to watch it. If I have Valentina again, we will see and I pay attention on it. But for now, no.”

“To be honest, I think I don’t follow the process and I don’t listen to my coach and yeah, definitely it was not a good feeling. I think I trained too much for this camp, perhaps because of the pressure, and when I arrived in the fight week I’m a little exhausted. So yeah, definitely turn the page and come back on a new chapter.”

Fiorot is hoping to land a fight with Natalia Silva soon as she attempts to get back to the championship level.
