Donald Cerrone Puts Away Rick Story, Calls Out Eddie Alvarez For UFC 205

The third bout on the main card of UFC 202 showcased two welterweights looking to extend their winning streaks. Former title contender Donald Cerrone (30-7, 1 NC) clashed with Rick Story (19-8) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

“Cowboy” did away with Story and now has his sights set on the lightweight title.

The two met at the center of the Octagon and Story looked to apply pressure early. Cerrone took Story down. “The Horror” looked to threaten with a triangle, but he couldn’t do much with it. Story sprung up and pushed “Cowboy” against the fence. A takedown was earned by Story and Cerrone went for a triangle. Story avoided danger and moved to side control. “Cowboy” popped up and the fight returned standing. A leg kick landed for Cerrone and Story hit one of his own. Cerrone landed a shot and pressured by moving forward with strikes. “Cowboy” teed off with a combination and the round later came to a close.

Story went for a right hook, but Cerrone ducked under. A knee to the body stung the body of “The Horror.” Story went for a takedown, but he couldn’t get it. “Cowboy” connected with two right hands. Cerrone blasted Story with a combination that ended in a headkick and “The Horror” was wobbled. “Cowboy” unloaded on some ground strikes and that’s all she wrote.

Post-fight, Cerrone called out Eddie Alvarez for a shot at the lightweight title in Madison Square Garden for UFC 205.
