Dominick Cruz (20-1) is set to fight T.J. Dillashaw (13-2) at UFC Fight Night 81 in a bantamweight title bout. Cruz spoke with reporters on a recent media conference call about his upcoming title bout and explained that he has nothing to lose in this fight.

“I don’t have as much emotion going into it because I feel at peace with myself – I have nothing to lose.”

According to Cruz, he is the underdog in this fight and with him being out for a couple years due to injuries, he knows what it is like to be without the title. With that kind of mindset makes him feel at peace because all he has to do is go out and fight his fight. Cruz put it perfectly, he has a good life and a career, winning this fight and the title would just put a cherry on top of all of that.

“I’m the underdog coming into this fight, I’ve been out for the past couple years with multiple injuries, so I’m already counted out to an extent, which is fine with me. It gives me peace because I have nothing to lose in this situation. I’m coming in and getting a shot. Fighting is just the cherry on top of a good life that I already live.”

Cruz was on top of the division until 2011, when he suffered his first torn Acl. He then returned in September of 2014 with a first-round TKO victory over Takeya Mizugaki.
